Laurie Mellor Bsc(Hons) MIFS DipFA
Laurie and his wife Brenda are joint heads of the Practice. Laurie has over 40 years’ experience in financial services and has particular strengths in the area of investment. He has invested over £75 million for clients over the years and combines caution with a flair for emerging markets.
A published author and experienced platform speaker, Laurie is a keen cricketer and, by his own admission a piano player of limited ability; he has a special passion for India and its food.
Brenda Mellor Bsc(Hons) DipFA MLIBF
Brenda has over 20 years’ experience in financial services and is a general practitioner with particular expertise in pension planning, estate planning, investment for income and funding for long term care. She enjoys working with clients holistically to ensure the best outcome at times of difficulty and change, including divorce, bereavement and retirement.
Her interests include music (a trained classical pianist), travel and food and she enjoys spending time with family, especially her new grandson. She also enjoys spending time with friends walking in Southern Spain.
Mark Rose MIFS DipFA
Mark has been an independent Financial Adviser for over 20 years, specialising in investments, savings, pensions, and retirement planning and long term care.
Genial and well organised he is a family man, married to Mandy they have two sons. Mark loves watching cricket, eating out, and enjoys going on coastal walks with their three dogs.
Jamie Mellor DipFA MLIBF
Jamie is a qualified IFA, having been with the Practice for ten years. He is married to Bryony and they have a young son. He is a talented musician who enjoys exploring all types of music genres. He regularly plays bass guitar for a number of bands, he also follows the fortunes of premier football league club, Brighton and Hove Albion.
Tim Waite DipFA MLIBF
A seasoned Investment Professional, Tim started his career in financial services in 2000 and joined the Practice in 2014 after a number of years with stockbroker Edward Jones. Tim has also trained with the Kinder Institute as a Financial Life Planner. Genial and decisive, he combines a warm personality with a real understanding of clients’ needs. Tim is a real asset to the Practice!
Sam Mellor BA(Hons) DipFA MLIBF
Sam is a qualified IFA with a degree in journalism and a strong background in customer service. Sam has a passion for Ethical Investment and is a member of the EIA (Ethical Investment Association) which is part of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF).
Sam is married to Karina and together they enjoy travelling and walking along the coastline where they live in Littlehampton. He is a keen cricketer, playing league cricket for Littlehampton CC, league football and is also a keen Brighton and Hove Albion supporter.
Steve Godfrey DipFA MLIBF
Steven joined the Practice in 2012, after being in senior retail management for over 16 years and qualified as an adviser in 2017. He is married to Susie and they have a young son and daughter.
Focused, flexible and determined, Steve is a qualified IFA. Another keen cricketer, Steve is a talented all-rounder, having represented Sussex County at various junior levels.
Graham Rees DipFA MLIBF
Graham joined the Mellor Practice in 2013 and qualified as an IFA in 2016. He has a wealth of experienced in dealing with the public. In addition to qualities of integrity and discretion, his academic ability enables him to grasp complex ideas quickly and put these across in a concise manner.
He is married with three children, is active at Arun Community Church and, like many in the Practice, is another useful cricketer!
Natasha Neal BA (Hons) DipPFS
Natasha joined us in March 2017, after a time in recruitment, previously before that she graduated from Goldsmith’s University, London with 2:1 honours degree in Sociology.
In 2019 she qualified to be an adviser. She is an active member at Arun Community Church; married to Toby, with whom she has just bought her first new home.
Business Support Team
Carol Day Ch.MCIPD – Practice Development Manager
Carol joined us in April 2017 after a 26 year career with One Family (previously Family Investments) in Brighton, where she was HR Director reporting directly to their Board. She was instrumental in the rapid growth of the company, and combines vision with the ability to grasp detail and see a project through to completion.
She is perceptive and intuitive and has strong interpersonal skills. She has overseen the opening of our second office in Worthing and is already making a major contribution to the expansion of the Practice.
Carol is a keen gardener and hedgehog preservationist!
Jordan Atkinson BA(Hons) – Group Operations Manager
Jordan has been part of the practice since June 2015 having previously graduated in Education Studies from Plymouth University. He recently gained promotions to Group Operations Manager for the Practice, overseeing the Business Support Team and functions at both office sites. Jordan is a quick learner, professional, accurate and personable. Another talented cricketer, Jordan is engaged to his fiancé Abbey, is passionate about Cricket, playing locally for Littlehampton Cricket Club and is an avid supporter of Manchester United.
Jacky Moore – Business Support Administrator
Jacky joined the Business Support Team in July 2018, having worked for the NatWest banking group as a Branch Manager for over 20 years. She has enhanced the team with her existing knowledge of financial services and excellent client facing skills.
She is married to Russell, who is a dedicated member of the Fire Service, and they spend their spare time together caring for their beautiful black labrador, Sophie.
Angie Beal – Business Support Administrator
Angie joined us in September 2019, having worked another Financial Adviser locally for the past 18 months. Angie is very experienced with over 20 years in customer services starting out Motor Insurance industry, then on to Retirement Advantage , formally known as MGM Advantage as a Senior Administrator in Customer Services and Adviser Support. In her free time she enjoys socialising with family and friends and meeting new people along with the occasional holiday.
